Way back in 2001, a group of fans threw a “Lovecraft’s Birthday Party” event on the West Coast, but as far as I’m aware, it was just a one-time thing, and then the people organizing it moved on to other stuff. (It was sort of a West Coast analogue to NecronomiCon in Providence.) But that is not dead which can eternal lie… because the good people at Dead End Press in Seattle are hosting a “Lovecraft’s Birthday Party” Art Show & party on August 19 from 6:30-9:00 PM!

I really enjoy all the Dead End Press events, so I was extra happy when I was invited to draw the flyer/banner artwork for this one. (You can see a little more of it on the Dead End Press page.) Like previous Dead End Press joints, this will include a sketch jam in the first half of the day, and then afterwards, the resulting ichor-soaked drawings will be displayed for all to see. If you’re in Seattle or anywhere nearby, please stop by and meet a bunch of cool people, look at some art and eat the kind of food HP Lovecraft himself would have probably eaten on his 122nd birthday! (By which I mean pizza, cake, etc. — not cold baked beans and cheese, don’t worry.) I’ll have new art up too, so please join us!
