I had a great time at Sakuracon over the weekend, and now I’m back! It looks like my wife and I will be going overseas to Jordan in a few weeks, so I’m doing my best to finish a ton of stuff before we leave. That includes more zombie portraits, which will be gracing the site over the next month or so.

I recently started watching the TV anime version of “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” on Crunchyroll. I’m enjoying it so far, and I’m amazed — and pleased, of course — that a TV series could be made based on a 30+ year old manga, and also that it’s introducing a new generation of fans to Jojo, my favorite manga ever. Toshi, one of my old friends from Viz, shared my astonishment that Jojo, once one of the clunkiest and weirdest artifacts of the ’80s, could have so much shelf life… first through scanlations and memes, and now through a TV series. I saw one Jotaro cosplayer at Sakuracon, and I’m hoping to see a ton more Jojo cosplay in the future! (Maybe I’ll dress up as Old Joseph…) It may not be at the popularity level of Fullmetal Alchemist or Naruto or something like that, and that’s fine because frankly it’s probably much too violent and nutzoid, but I’m glad that Jojo’s strangeness and glamor is finally getting a bit of the appreciation it deserves in the West.

NEXT UPDATE: Wednesday!
