The Cats of Ulthar, Page 4
Another page from my quick adaptation of HP Lovecraft’s The Cats of Ulthar! I want to say that I realize cats don’t actually sleep on their backs (at least I’ve never seen them do it… but dogs do), but hey. This is the Dreamlands.
Today I’m working on rescanning some pages from “The Doom That Came to Sarnath” that were lost in my hard drive crash last year. I’ve also got some more Dungeons & Dragons cartoons, and lastly, I’m off to the library to check out some manga and perhaps a copy of Joseph Massad’s “Desiring Arabs”. See you soon when I post more art!
NEXT UPDATE: Thursday!
If it makes you feel any better, our manx cat will wedge himself into bed next to me on his back and pass out quite happily. Although he is a strange enough beast that he may well have come from the Dreamlands originally.
Well, they generally do so less often as they mature but kittens definitely sleep on their backs. Often all stretched out or with their darling little paws curled under their adorable little chins.
Cats are mysterious because unlike dogs, cats are like us. They can make decisions we won’t like but many times we will still cater to them. Unlike dogs which are domesticated, cats are only classified as tamed. I would say they can not only see things we can’t (recall when they watch things we cannot see) but may just travel back and forth to places like the dreamlands. I miss not having pets and miss not having cats most of all.
Also, I like that you changed the expressions on the doll’s faces. I appreciate your attention to fine detail.
