The Doom That Came to Sarnath, Page 1
And thus begins my next Lovecraft comic, and the final stage of my Dream-Quest Kickstarter: The Doom That Came to Sarnath! “Sarnath” was selected by one of my Kickstarter backers, who donated at the “Nyarlathotep” level so I’d do an adaptation of a new Lovecraft comic of his choice. I’m glad he chose it: I really like this story, and the folks at HP Podcraft did an excellent reading-and-commentary on it. It’s a lot of fun to draw.
The adaptation will run about 20 pages. I’ll be posting one page a week, mostly on Tuesdays, until the whole thing is complete. After “Sarnath”, I will be working on ANOTHER Lovecraft-based story which I’m really, really excited about. I’ll reveal more here when it’s closer to release.
My thanks go out to all the people who made the “Dream-Quest” kickstarter a success, and to everybody who hangs around here and reads these comics! Please come back on Monday for the continuing MWF Lovecraft Sketches, and announcements about my next new comic! And don’t forget to check out King of RPGs!

Got my copy of Dream-Quest last weekend. Amazing stuff. Like Beardsley or the underground artists of the 60’s. I feel so lucky to live at a time when such things are being made. Excellent, excellent work.
I got a little giddy when I saw this come up in my google reader feed.
Yay!
I know nothing about this story. But so far, it’s reminding me a bit of the real-life case of Lake Issyk Kul in Kyrgyzstan:

It is a huge lake out of which no stream flows, and archeologists suspect that an ancient civilization lies buried in the middle of it (note especially the last section about the “creation legend”).
Oh man, this is looking GREAT.
Thanks, everyone! I’m really enjoying working on this story; I just put up the second page. And thanks Esn, the Issyk Kul link is fascinating — I don’t think Lovecraft was actually inspired by any particular real story of a lake and a lost city, so the parallels are really interesting.

Hello! I oversee Innsmouth of Second Life, and am founder/coordinator of the annual Lovecraft Festivals of Second Life, so chose to use my Second Life name.
I just discovered this work and enjoyed it thoroughly. Great stuff and now looking for more.
