The Doom That Came to Sarnath, Page 7
The next page of “Doom That Came to Sarnath”! I’m pleased with how this turned out, although as usual there are a few lingering things I could fix up. But it’s 3:30 AM. The next page will go up next Tuesday, July 24!
I’ve been working lately on my new Lovecraft project as well as a roleplaying/card game of sorts, which I’ll probably post about eventually. Last weekend I met up with a bunch of Seattle artists, which will hopefully become a regular thing, so I’ll talk about them all eventually — but for the moment I wanted to shout out to Vanessa Gillings, who was only up in Seattle for a month before returning to San Francisco so won’t be able to make it to the next meetup. In addition to drawin’ some fine art on tumblr and her own comics, Vanessa colored my 40-page story in The Legend of Bold Riley (to which she also contributed a piece). Thanks for coming over, Vanessa, and hope you guys enjoy the rest of your stay in this rainy, thundery city!
You can tell a civilization is close to decadence when people have so much free time that they start making silly hats for their horses.
It’s based on something I saw in a book on Mesopotamia, actually. Though being a clay tablet drawing, it was drawn only in profile, so I wasn’t sure if it was a flower, or more like a little crown.
The horses look rather arrogant about their pretty hats too. Surely a sign of DOOM.
I love the Babylonian look you’ve given this story…i had always envisioned it with a greco-romanish look..but i think this works much more.
