The Stiff Chapter 6: Page 232
Until I started researching alien invasion stories, I never realized how popular “aliens disguised as humans” stories were, particularly in cheap movies of the 1950s and 1960s. But then I realized, of course. You don’t need to come up with a costume that way.
NEXT UPDATE: Wednesday!
“The Invaders” Larry Cohen 1966 – 1968 had the aliens take on human form. Only they need to regenerate to keep their false shapes. They have no blood, no heart beats and can stare into the glare of the Sun unharmed. When they die in that form they glow red and burn up! Leaving just carbon and cellulose behind. Think of the transporters from Star Trek only they take the atoms and rearrange them into these near human forms from their original ones.
In the episode called “The Enemy” the alien survivor of a saucer crash is protecting this box that has chemicals—to experiment with to see if they can be adapted for oxygen in our atmosphere. If not they will “eliminate the oxygen”. In that same episode we see one of the invaders start to revert to their alien form. It will kill him with great pain. Rather a good show.
