When drawing these comics, I always had to be careful not to be influenced by Chaosium’s “H.P. Lovecraft’s Dreamlands” supplement for the Call of Cthulhu RPG. Not that I didn’t love their Dreamlands books (well, before they started putting Brian Lumley’s stuff in them and overwriting Lovecraft’s original concepts), but just because I wanted to go back to the original source material and then make my own interpretations of how things looked. I loved Mark J. Ferrari and Tom Sullivan’s illustrations in S. Petersen’s Field Guide to Creatures of the Dreamlands.
